Menu: Analyze / Analyze surface
The “Color by surface” tool is also available in the Objects tab in the explorer by right clicking on a surface and selecting “Colorize points by distance”.
This tool will colorize surface points according to their distance to the selected surface. An existing surface must be selected in the list and a “Max distance” must be entered. The “Execute” button will find all nearby points, calculate their distance with the surface and colorize them accordingly. A colorized point cloud will appear in a secondary window and the histogram in the “Range of colors” will be calculated.
A .PDF report can be created with this tool. The report will contain a title, a subtitle, a histogram and a printscreen of the secondary window. To modify the title and subtitle, click on the “...” button next to the “Report” button. The titles may be personalized here. Clicking on “Report” generates a .PDF file showing the histogram of point distribution and a screen capture of the secondary window when the function was triggered.
A downsample option has been added to reduce the number of points included in the calculation, effectively reducing processing time. The downsample value added means that only 1 point in the area specified will be conserved for calculation.
