The Measurement Kit in VisionLidar provides a comprehensive way to manage all measurements performed within the project. It allows users to view, edit, and toggle visibility for different measurement types, ensuring easy access to key project data.
1. Managing Measurements
✔ All measurements taken in the project are stored and displayed in the Measurement Kit.
✔ Users can toggle visibility for each measurement.
✔ The measurement unit matches the project’s settings unless a custom scale is defined in Global Settings (Settings / Source Unit of Measure).
✔ Each measurement can have its own color, but size, precision, angle type, and shading settings apply globally (Settings / View / Measurements).
💡 Measurements are stored and can be revisited at any time, eliminating the need for repetitive calculations.
2. Available Measurement Types
The Measurement Kit supports various types of measurements, each requiring a different number of points.
Distance Measurements
📏 Measure Distance 2D – Calculates the planimetric (XY) distance between two points. (Prefix: "2D=")
📏 Measure Distance 3D – Computes the true 3D spatial distance between two points. (Prefix: "3D=")
📏 Measure Distance Slope – Determines the percentage of slope between two points. (Displayed with "%" suffix)
Angle Measurements
📐 Measure Angles 2D – Measures the planimetric (XY) angle between three points, with the second point acting as the pivot. (Prefix: "2D: ")
📐 Measure Angles 3D – Computes the true spatial angle between three points. (Prefix: "3D: ")
Area & Perimeter Measurements
📏 Measure Perimeter – Calculates the true perimeter of a polygon formed by multiple points. The polygon must be closed by clicking the "Close" button. (Prefix: "P=")
📐 Measure Area – Computes the total area of a polygon. The polygon must be closed using the "Close" button. (Prefix: "S=")
Elevation & Path Measurements
📍 Measure Elevations – Determines the height difference between two points. A dashed triangle visually represents the base and height. (Prefix: "H=")
📍 Measure Path Length – Calculates the cumulative distance along a path with multiple vertices. The report shows only the total length. (Prefix: "L=")
3. Editing & Managing Measurements
✔ Users can change the measurement type, but if the new type requires fewer points, only the first ones will be retained.
✔ Selecting an older measurement highlights it in yellow and reactivates it for modifications.
✔ Clicking the "Point" button opens the list of measured points.
💡 Right-clicking on a point in the list provides additional options:
🔹 Remove all – Deletes all points in the measurement.
🔹 Remove current – Deletes only the selected point.
🔹 Insert – Inserts a new point above the selected point.
🔹 Repick Point – Allows the user to select a new point in the point cloud to replace the existing one.
