Compare Scans
Menu: Analyze / Compare scans
The Compare Scans tool allows users to analyze differences between two scans captured in the same area. To use this function, the VisionLidar project must contain at least two separate scans.
1. Selecting Scans for Comparison
In the “Files to Compare” section, select the two scans to be analyzed.
The comparison is made perpendicular to a selected plane or surface.
2. Configuring the Comparison Parameters
Color Interval and Histogram Display
The “Range of Colors” represents a histogram distributed equally across a set interval.
The “Color Interval” defines the spacing of histogram values.
Cutoff Distance
Points outside the specified range are:
✔ Isolated from the view
✔ Excluded from the histogram results
3. Running the Comparison and Viewing Results
1️⃣ Click “Compare” to process the scan differences.
2️⃣ The histogram results will appear in the right column.
3️⃣ A secondary window will display a graphical representation of the comparison.
Viewing Note:
To see colors in the secondary window, enable “Color by RGB” mode. Otherwise, the window may appear without meaningful color differences.
4. Generating a Report
A .PDF report can be created with this tool, containing:
✔ Title & Subtitle (customizable via the “...” button)
✔ Histogram of the comparison results
✔ Screenshot of the secondary window
Steps to Create a Report:
Click “Compare” to calculate the distribution of points.
Click “Create Report” to generate the .PDF file.
📌 Best Practices for Accuracy:
✔ Hide unwanted classes before running the comparison.
✔ Use a fence to isolate the area being analyzed.
