Measuring Angles
Menu: Survey / Measure angle
The Measure Angle function in VisionLidar allows users to measure angles directly within the point cloud. This function launches the Measure Kit, preloaded with the "Measure Angle 3D" tool, enabling quick and precise angle calculations.
1. Measuring an Angle
✔ Select Survey / Measure Angle to open the Measure Kit.
✔ The tool will be set to "Measure Angle 3D" by default.
✔ Click on three points in the point cloud:
The first and third points define the endpoints of the angle.
The second point acts as the vertex (pivot point).
✔ The measured angle is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
✔ The results can be saved as a text file for documentation and reporting.
2. Available Angle Measurement Modes
📌 2D Angle (Planimetric) – Measures the angle in a horizontal plane (XY projection).
📌 3D Angle (True Angle) – Computes the actual spatial angle between three points in 3D space.
💡 This tool is ideal for structural analysis, slope calculations, and verifying angles in engineering projects.
