Alignments
Menu: Survey / Alignment
The Alignment Manager in VisionLidar allows users to view, create, and modify horizontal alignments within a project. Alignments are critical for defining paths for sections, profiles, road modeling, and camera paths.
1. What is an Alignment?
✔ An alignment represents a defined path or route used in surveying, road design, railways, and infrastructure projects.
✔ It consists of a series of points that define the horizontal curve of the alignment.
✔ Alignments are used in:
Sections & Profiles – Generate cross-sections along a path.
Camera Path – Define movement paths for visualization.
Road by Sections – Create roadway models based on alignment.
2. Managing Alignments
✔ Open the Alignment Manager to:
View existing alignments in the project.
Create new alignments by selecting a series of points.
Modify an alignment’s horizontal curve to refine its geometry.
✔ Adjusting Horizontal Curves
Modify alignment curves for smooth transitions.
Improve accuracy for infrastructure projects.
✔ Advanced Alignment Management (Civil Module)
The Civil Module provides more advanced features, including:
Vertical alignment adjustments.
Road and railway slope modifications.
3. Key Benefits of the Alignment Tool
✔ Versatile Application – Used in road design, railways, and site planning.
✔ Integrated with Other Features – Works with sections, profiles, and camera paths.
✔ Easy Modification – Adjust horizontal curves for accurate path modeling.
✔ Advanced Control – Full vertical alignment management in the Civil Module.
