The "Road by Sections" tool enables semi-automatic vectorization of a road or corridor by applying a predefined template at regular section intervals along an alignment. This process minimizes manual work while ensuring that the result matches the actual terrain.
1. Prerequisites: Preparing the Alignment
✔ An alignment must be created before using the tool.
✔ The alignment must cover the entire roadway to be vectorized.
✔ If no alignment exists, create one using Menu: Civil / Alignments.
2. Road by Sections Workflow
🔹 Step 1: Open the "Road by Sections" Tool
Navigate to Menu: Civil / Road by Sections to access the interface.
🔹 Step 2: Define the Main Parameters
✔ Select an alignment → The road elements will be vectorized along this path.
✔ Set the station interval → Defines how frequently a cross-section will be generated.
✔ Adjust section width → Ensures the entire road surface and surroundings are included.
🔹 Step 3: Create the Cross-Section Template
✔ A template defines the road structure (lanes, shoulders, curbs, ditches).
✔ Frequently used road elements (curbs, sidewalks) can be predefined and inserted easily.
✔ Templates can be edited at each section for custom adjustments.
🔹 Step 4: Manage and Adjust Sections
✔ Sections are created along the alignment at each defined station.
✔ Sections can be individually modified to account for road widening, intersections, or unique features.
✔ The cross-section view allows real-time editing of road components.

✔ View the finalized road model in the main window.
✔ Export vectorized road elements to CAD, GIS, or BIM formats for further design work.
