Menu: Survey / Pick Cylinder

This tool allows the user to detect a cylindrical object on the screen and place a survey point at the base of the detected cylinder. Once the function is selected, the user must pick a point that is part of a cylinder and the tool will detect the cylinder. If no cylinder is detected, perhaps the point cloud is too sparse or perhaps the object detection parameters are too stringent (See Menu: Settings / Objects / Cylinders for min. / max. cylinder radius and also for the minimum points needed for the detection.

The detected cylinder will be created in the explorer “Object” tab in the “Cylinders” section. After detecting the object, the function will expect the user to pick a point on the screen to determine the elevation and the “Pick point/Lines” window will appear with the center of the bottom of the cylinder as a survey point.

The next cylinder may then be picked the process can be repeated until the tool doesn’t detect an object or if the “Pick points/Lines” window is closed.

Whether or not the survey points are saved, the cylinder objects will still be in the explorer.
