Menu: Explorer / Objects / Trees
Trees are some of the more complex objects in VisionLidar. Besides having a position, they are made of two distinct parts; the trunk and the crown. 5 types of measurements are associated with each tree, plus you can select the shape of the crown:
The Center of the trunk’s base
Tree height (top of the crown)
Trunk height (where the first large branch appears)
DBH (diameter at breast height)
Crown diameter
Object shape (of the crown)
They are created either individually using the 
button and picking a tree trunk in the point cloud, or using the batch tree detection (Menu: Analyze / Trees). Adding trees individually will add trees one at a time in the object list, whereas the batch detection will add a multiple trees at a time. Both functions automatically detect the best measurements for each detected tree.
Note that in VisionLidar 2020 you can now create manually trees. You will have to click 3 points on the trunk plus a 4th point for the Z value to determine the beginning of the trunk (ground).
Clicking on the 
button will restart the detection for a specific object and a tree trunk must be picked in the point cloud. The function will automatically detect measurements for that tree. Each measurement for any given tree may be changed manually by picking points in the point cloud with the 
button and picking the desired point in the point cloud. (Note: For DBH and crown diameter measurements - 2 points must be picked.) The shape of the tree can either be set as spherical or conical; this is how it will be displayed in the point cloud and in the exported .DXF file.
A few options are available in the trees toolbar - see their description here:

| Creates a COGO point for each selected tree in the list. A Vision database must be attached. The points added correspond to the center coordinate for each tree trunk base. |
| Restarts the tree detection and a tree trunk must be picked in the point cloud |
A contextual menu also presents a few extra features. This is available by right-clicking on a specific tree. The contextual menu allows the user to:
- Check all/uncheck all to select/deselect all trees
- Remove current to delete the currently selected tree
