Menu: Analyze / Compute normals
After clicking on “Compute normals”, the algorithm will automatically begin to calculate the normal of every point in the point cloud. Afterward, when viewing points by normals (Menu: View / Color by normals), points belonging to horizontal planes will appear in one color (red by default) and points on a vertical plane will appear in another color (blue by default). All other points will appear in white. This can offer another way to view and analyze the model. It is an optional process; other algorithms won’t use this computed values.
