VisionLidar365 Release Notes v32.1

Welcome to the VisionLidar365, 2022 R2, 32.1 version. There are several updates in this release which we hope you will appreciate. Please find below some of the key highlights:

Georeferencing of the objects in the scene using a coordinate transformation

Many projects are built locally to keep X and Y axes corresponding to longitudinal aspect of a 3D scene or physical structures. The proposed georeferencing method consists in establishing a transformation between local coordinates of a site and a world coordinate system. This way no need to keep the local coordinate system of the 3D lidar project scene. Only the objects of the scene displayed on the global 2D map will be transformed when the data is published. This method has the advantage of keeping the origin of the local coordinate system close to zero while enjoying the benefits of a known georeferenced coordinate system.

This methodology will allow you to display on the world map the PIN of the spherical images of your lidar projects as well as the 2D mapping of non-georeferenced sites.

New longitudinal profile and cross section function

The Profile tool provides a smart way to explore and measure an area of interest in your project. When points are stacked vertically, the profile display provides a clearer representation and helps identify the location of certain points. This method has the ability to describe features in both the building infrastructure and natural terrain.

This tool will allow you to make longitudinal profiles and cross sections of an analysis area.

Tool Features:

●       Customization of the 2D Window of the profile and cross sections

●       Move the cross-sections along the longitudinal profile step by step

●       Combination with clipping objects possible

●       Linear distance and slope measurement using horizontal and vertical guide lines

●       Export of Profile or Cross section  point clouds to Las/laz, csv and jpeg files

Import of GeoJSON and DXF files under the Vectorial Object module

The vectorization module, which allows to create Points, Polylines and Polygons, now offers the option to import vectors from your GIS or CAD platform. Our import tool is compatible with GeoJSON and DXF file format.

Our dxf import function allows you to copy layered structure coming from the file rather than importing all vectors in one unique  New Layer.

Improved VR mode

VL365's virtual reality mode has been enhanced and offers the following capabilities:

●       Compatible with the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset and its 2 controllers

●       Improved smooth navigation through the point cloud including spherical images.

●       Allows measurements

Improved Project Edit option.

●       The geographical position of existing publications is recovered when editing a publication.

●       Un-publish point cloud project function has been added to the project editing user interface.

Improved label display when measuring with volumetric models.

The rendering of the measurement display has been improved to allow the measurement label to be displayed in the foreground so that it is visible over a volumetric model.

The measurement label becomes visible when the user's mouse hovers over the green sphere at the end of the measurement.

Help Online

The user guide for the VL365 solution will be online progressively during the year 2022 /2023. Look for the New Icon  through our application and view the relevant chapter. Some step-by-step procedures will be available to perform the task you want to accomplish.
