Menu: Edit / Fence

Instead of creating an extraction, it's possible to isolate points while staying in the main point cloud by using a fence. When no fences exist yet in the project, the fence tool will automatically start in picking mode, else the button "Pick" must be selected to generate a new fence. When In VisionLidar, you can create multiple fences to isolate the working area. This will allow you to reduce the processing time by focusing on the area of interest. To start creating a new fence click on Image Added, you can also give it a name. When picking a fence, a closed polygon is created in the same way as with the select tool: begin "Selection tool". Begin the fence by clicking the left mouse button around the desired area. Clicking on the right mouse button will close the polygon.

A number of options are available:

  • Pick: Begins the picking process for picking a fence on screen
  • Apply: Reapplies an existing fence
  • Draw: Displays the existing fence on screen
  • Erase: Erases the existing fence from the screen

Once you are done with creating your fence, you have to validate it by clicking Image Added or you can click Image Added if the fence is wrong.

Once a fence is created you can choose amongst

    • Hide out: Hides all points outside of the fence
    • Hide in: Hides all points inside the fence
    • Image Added : Will delete the current selected fence
The active fence can be drawn or erased.
    • Image Added : To rename the current selected fence
    • Select points: Select the currently visible points and show the Selection dialog.
    • Export for train: Export the currently visible points to a PLY files that can later be used to train a model.
    • Create surface: Create a surface from the currently visible point.

The fence is a 2D shape that is not part of the point cloud - filtered . Filtered points are therefore any points inside/outside the fence when the fence was applied. If the user navigates in the point cloud, the fence will stay the same on screen (if it was drawn). Displacing the main window and clicking on “Apply” will recreate the fence around a new set of points.
Note that the fence can not be activated with the bounding box simultaneously, generating a fence will deactivate the bounding box and vice-versa.
