Picking points and lines
Menu: Survey / Pick Points/Lines
(see video at 2:34 and 6:59 for PCode sequences)
This function is used to pick points in the point cloud and save them in the database with different information (PCode, attributes, line number) as would be done with a field surveying instrument.
This window is similar to the window for the function “View points” and works about the same way, with three exceptions:
When the function is active, picking points in the point cloud fills the table with points.
The right-hand part of the screen is where you can set the PCode and line number of the next point or the selected points. Adding new PCodes in that list will make a sequence of PCodes that will automatically change to the next PCode on the list after picking a point. That list can be saved and loaded as required.
The table only shows the new points picked since the function was launched and they will not be saved in the database until the “Save” button is pressed.
Points in the table can be saved in the database and exported as CSV, DXF, .SHP, MIF/MID, TAB or LandXML format. Points saved in the database can be accessed with the “View points” function. An alignment can also be made with any polyline by clicking on “Create alignment” and saving the desired line number as an alignment. The newly created alignment will be accessible with the Menu: Survey / Alignment or in the alignment section of the Civil module.
A right click on a point in the table will offer the user some extra point management options. For a selection of points, the PCode and the line number may be modified. The tool “Pick XYZ coordinate” will repick a point in the list if the position of the point is unsatisfactory.
It is possible to select a series of points by clicking on a point (the point will be displayed as yellow to indicate the selected state), pressing "Shift" and clicking the final point to be selected. This way, a selection of points may be, for example, deleted or modified.
The search bar on the top right of the table allows the user to search for any point in the table containing the information entered. Entering the same value multiple times will find the following points that contain the search information (if applicable).
The size of the labels for the points picked on screen may be modified by going to Menu: Settings / View / Point labels and changing the main screen text size.
Note that only the new points are displayed by the interface and on the point cloud, unless points are in the selected /wiki/spaces/VisionLidarEN17/pages/2720726, which in that case will display all points within the group.
