Surfaces

Menu: Explorer / Objects / Surfaces
Surfaces are generated using the ground detection tool found at Menu: Analyze / Ground (see ground detection). Any new surfaces created will be found in the surfaces list. A few options are available with the surfaces toolbar. See their description here:

| Invites the user to click on a surface to be identified on screen; the surface in question will be highlighted in the list |
| Imports a surface from VisionCivil. There must be an existing surface in VisionCivil for this list to be populated |
| Exports the selected cylinders to .DXF, shapefile, mapinfo, GeoJSON or KML format. |
| Exports the current surface to the /wiki/spaces/VisionLidarEN17/pages/2884303. A Vision database must be attached. |
A contextual menu also presents a few extra features. This is available by right-clicking on a specific surface.
Colorize points by distance: This tool will colorize surface points according to their distance to the selected surface. Upon selecting this option the window “Color by surface” will appear. A colorized point cloud will appear in a secondary window and the user may create a report in .PDF format. See the section about analyzing surfaces more information.
Select points: This tool allows the user to select points within a given interval from the surface. The interval must be entered in the text field next to the option in the menu. Using this tool will open the “Selection” window and will give the user a few options (see selection tools for more explanations). The user must select points by interval of distance; entering in one value in the field will set the interval to equal distance from the surface (e.g. 0.5 will set the interval at -0.5 : 0.5) and entering two values separated by a colon will set an asymmetrical interval (e.g. -0.2 : 0.4 will set an asymmetrical interval).
