Cylinders
Menu: Explorer / Objects / Cylinders
Cylinders can be generated using three different methods:
Manual Creation – Add cylinders individually using the toolbar (see below).
Picking Cylinders Tool – Found under Menu: Survey / Pick Cylinders, allowing users to select cylinders interactively.
Batch Detection – Uses the Cylinder Batch Detection tool under Menu: Analyze / Cylinders to detect multiple cylinders automatically.
Once detected, cylinders appear in the Objects tab of the Explorer under the Cylinders category.
Cylinders Toolbar Options
The Cylinders Toolbar provides several tools for managing cylinders:

Add a new cylinder by selecting a cylindrical object in the point cloud. | |
Click on a cylinder in the 3D view to highlight it in the list. | |
Displays only horizontal, vertical, or specifically named cylinders. | |
Exports selected cylinders in DXF, Shapefile, MapInfo, GeoJSON, or KML format. | |
Adds COGO points from selected cylinders to the database. |
Cylinder Properties
Each detected cylinder contains key attributes that can be modified or refined:
Center XY – The planimetric center of the cylinder (X, Y coordinates). This value is detected automatically and cannot be changed.
Center Z – The elevation of the cylinder base. If needed, users can reselect this value by clicking the and selecting a new elevation on the screen.
Direction – The orientation of the cylinder. Users can adjust this by clicking the and selecting the high point of the cylinder.
Height – The cylinder’s height can be modified by repicking the high point in the 3D view.
Radius – The radius can be manually adjusted by entering a new value in the field.
Angle – Displays the inclination angle of the cylinder.
Additional Features (Context Menu)
Right-clicking on a cylinder opens a contextual menu with additional tools:
Check All / Uncheck All – Select or deselect all cylinders.
Remove Current – Deletes the selected cylinder.
Colorize Points by Distance – Activates the Color by Cylinder Deformation tool, which visually represents deformations in the cylinder's structure.
