Point cloud registration is essential for accurately positioning a point cloud in space (georeferencing) or aligning multiple scans into a unified dataset. VisionLidar offers various registration methods, each suited for different workflows. This section details the available options.

Registration Methods

  • Point-to-Point Registration – Manually align a point cloud with a reference cloud by selecting corresponding points one by one.

  • Registration Using a List – Register a point cloud using a predefined list of control points for precise alignment.

  • Modifying the Origin of the Porject – Adjust the origin of the point cloud by applying translation and rotation transformations.

  • Reindexing the Point Cloud – Reorganize and optimize the point cloud structure after modifications such as repositioning or classification. This ensures proper tile arrangement and indexing.
