Cluster Categories and Filters

The cluster tool has a filtering function. The default position shows all clusters, however, by checking the "Use filter by category" option it is possible to filter the clusters according to their attributes. It is possible to set the maximum length, width and height for a cluster, including a tolerance (+/-) for each. This set of attributes can be saved as a “Cluster category”. If the attributes are set correctly, the user may filter similarly shaped clusters. For example; for a point cloud with meters as the unit, cars may be filtered adequately using the following parameters:
Maximum length: 4.5 +/-: 1.5
Maximum width: 2.0 +/-: 1.0
Maximum height: 1.5 +/-: 0.5
The Cluster Tool includes a filtering function that allows users to categorize and filter detected clusters based on their attributes.
By default, all clusters are displayed. However, enabling "Use filter by category" allows filtering based on cluster dimensions such as:
✔ Maximum length
✔ Maximum width
✔ Maximum height
✔ Tolerance (+/-) for each dimension
1. Filtering Clusters by Attributes
Users can define size thresholds to filter clusters by shape. For example, in a point cloud with meters as the unit, the following settings could be used to identify cars:
🔹 Maximum Length: 4.5m (+/- 1.5m)
🔹 Maximum Width: 2.0m (+/- 1.0m)
🔹 Maximum Height: 1.5m (+/- 0.5m)
These settings ensure that only objects within the defined size range are displayed.
2. Creating and Managing Cluster Categories
Saving a Cluster Category
Enter a name in the "Cluster Category" field.
Click "Save" to store the current filter settings as a new category.
Using and Editing Cluster Categories
Once saved, categories appear in the drop-down list next to "Cluster Category".
Users can switch between categories to apply different filters.
Categories can be renamed or edited to refine filtering.
🔹 Example Categories:
✔ Cars – Defined by typical car dimensions.
✔ Street Signs – Based on the height and width of traffic signs.
✔ Utility Poles – Filtered by tall, narrow objects.
