Aerial Detection

Menu: Analyze / Aerial

The Aerial Detection tool automatically classifies points in an aerial scan (captured via drone or airplane) based on return values. The point cloud is distributed into three classes:

Ground
Vegetation
Building

Classification Settings

1. Ground Classification

☑ Enable Ground Classification to detect and classify ground points.

  • Return Number – Select the return number to assign to ground points.

2. Vegetation Classification

☑ Enable Vegetation Classification to detect and classify vegetation.

  • Return Number – Select the return number to assign to vegetation points.

3. Building Classification

☑ Enable Building Classification to detect and classify buildings.

  • Minimum Elevation – Define the minimum elevation for a point to be considered part of a building.

Limiting the Classification by Radius

To limit the processing area around a selected point:

  1. Check "Limit by Radius."

  2. Click "Pick by Radius" and select a point in the point cloud to set the starting location.

  3. Enter the radius value to define the processing zone.
