In VisionLidar, points can be managed using two primary methods: Virtual Surveying or the Civil Module. Each method has its advantages depending on the project size and requirements.
1. Managing Points via Virtual Surveying
✔ Structured Point Data – Each point is assigned:

PCode (Point Code)
Configuration settings

Virtual Surveying
Civil Module
Other Vision Suite software
✔ Synchronization with COGO – A surface can be synchronized to COGO (Coordinate Geometry):
Retrieves elevation values from the virtual survey.
Sets the Z values in the surface accordingly.
Uses planimetric synchronization – if a point number exists in the surface, it will automatically adjust its elevation based on the COGO database.
💡 🚨 Performance Note: Handling millions of points in this method may slow down certain Civil module processes due to the added metadata.
2. Managing Points via the Civil Module
✔ Minimal Data Storage – Each point contains only XYZ coordinates.
✔ Optimized Performance – Faster processing for large datasets (millions of points).
✔ Civil Module Exclusive – These points can only be used within the Civil module.
