Point management
In general, there are two ways to manage points, using virtual surveying or directly with surfaces in the Civil module. It is easy to switch from one mode to the other.
With virtual surveying: Each point has a name, a PCode, and is assigned to a specific configuration, and it can be used not just in virtual surveying and Civil module but also in other Vision Suite’s software solutions. On the other hand, if there is a very large number of points (millions), this will slow down certain Civil module processes. Synchronizing a surface to Cogo will get back the elevation from the virtual survey and set its Z value in the surface accordingly. Note that this synchronization is done planimetrically, if no point numbers are in the surface but correspond to a known point in the Cogo, it will automatically be set to that point with its Z adjusted in the surface.
- With the Civil module: Each point only has XYZ coordinates and can only be used in the Civil module. With large number of points, processes are faster if they only possess minimal information.
