The Grid Creation interface in VisionLidar’s Civil Module is used to generate a uniform grid of points across a surface. This function helps in surface representation, triangulation improvement, and perspective visualization.

1. Key Features of Grid Creation

Generate a Uniform Grid – Create points evenly spaced across the terrain.
Improve Surface Representation – Fill in areas with missing data to enhance rendering.

2. Grid Creation Parameters

X, Y Interval

  • Defines the spacing between grid points in the X and Y directions (row/column layout).

  • The smaller the interval, the denser the grid (higher precision but increased processing time).

By Triangulation

Interpolates grid points using existing triangulation for a more natural surface representation.

By Nearest Neighbor

Assigns each grid point the value of its closest existing surface point.

By Nearest Neighbor on Surface Plan

Similar to nearest neighbor, but optimizes interpolation based on the best-fit surface plane.

3. Grid Drawing and Modification

Draw/Erase Grid – Preview the generated grid before finalizing the process.
Add Grid Points to Surface – Integrate the new points into the surface. (Irreversible—use with caution!)
