Grid Preferences

The Grid Preferences interface in VisionLidar’s Civil Module allows users to customize grid properties for each layer independently. This ensures consistent visualization, annotation, and structure when working with grid-based surface representations.

1. Key Features of Grid Preferences

Layer-Specific Preferences – Each layer retains its own grid settings for flexibility.
Default Interval Configuration – Set standard X, Y spacing values when opening the interface.
Custom Line Styles and Colors – Define how grid lines are traced and displayed.
Text Annotation Settings – Control altitude labeling at grid intersections.

2. Grid Preference Settings

Option

Description

X, Y Interval

Sets the default spacing between grid lines.

Lines

Selects line styles and colors for drawing the grid. If Color by Scale is used, VisionLidar colors triangles based on elevation or slope without drawing additional elevation indicators.

Texts

Defines the annotation style for displaying altitude values at grid intersections.

Edit Line and Text Preferences – Click the configuration buttons to modify settings.
Enable or Disable Elements – Uncheck options to exclude grid lines or annotations from rendering.

3. Best Practices for Grid Preferences

Set a default X, Y interval that suits your typical project scale.
Use Color by Scale for terrain visualization, but disable unnecessary annotations to avoid clutter.
Customize line styles to differentiate between grid types in multi-layer projects.
Adjust text settings to ensure clear altitude labeling at grid intersections.
