Sections Preferences
The Section Preferences in the Civil Module allow users to customize and optimize cross-section visualization. These settings define scales, line types, text styles, grid parameters, and legends, ensuring sections are drawn consistently across projects.
1. Setting Up Section Preferences
✔ Save Multiple Configurations – Different projects may require different section styles. Save customized configurations under unique names for future use.
✔ Use Templates for Efficiency – It is recommended to set up preferences in a template or a standard project .mdb for easy import into new projects.
✔ Modify Styles – The modify button allows for precise adjustments to line styles, text appearance, and grid formatting.
2. Default Section Parameters
✔ Horizontal Scale (Hor. Scale) – Defines the default horizontal scale for section drawings.
✔ Vertical Scale (Vert. Scale) – Sets the default vertical scale for elevation visualization.
✔ Section Lines – Determines line types for outlining sections.
3. Grid Settings – Frame, Offsets, and Elevation Intervals
Grid Frame & Markers
Outline Line Type – Specifies line style for the grid boundary.
Offset Grid Settings
Interval – Controls primary and secondary marker spacing for offsets.
Line & Text Options – Customize whether offset markers are drawn and labeled.
Decimal Precision (Decim.) – Defines number of decimal places for offset labels.
Distance & Tics – Adjust spacing and size for tic marks under the grid.
Altitude Grid Settings
Interval – Determines elevation marker spacing in gridlines.
Line & Text Options – Toggle whether altitude markers are drawn and labeled.
Decimal Precision (Decim.) – Specifies the precision level for elevation labels.
Distance & Tics – Adjusts spacing and tic mark size to the left of the grid.
4. Legend Customization
✔ Legend Text – Enables chaining and volume details in the grid legend.
✔ Legend Line – Optionally frame the legend as a table or underline chaining values.
✔ Grid Distances – Controls the horizontal and vertical spacing between section grids.
✔ Legend Placement – Position the legend at the bottom or to the right of the section.
5. Best Practices for Section Preferences
✔ Set up standardized section preferences in templates for consistency.
✔ Adjust horizontal and vertical scales based on project requirements.
✔ Enable decimal precision for highly accurate elevation representation.
✔ Use the legend to enhance clarity without overcrowding the drawing.
✔ Customize tic marks and grid intervals to match professional or regulatory standards.
