Power Lines Detection and Vectorization

Power Lines Detection and Vectorization

Menu: Analyze / Catenary detection

The Lines tab offers three methods for detecting power lines:

  1. Manual Selection: Select two points to create a line, which will be detected as a power line.

  2. Semi-Automatic Detection : Select a point, and the module will detect and vectorize nearby power lines.

  3. Fully Automatic Detection : Detect and vectorize all power lines using predefined classification classes.

Once a power line is detected and vectorized, you can:

  • Select and visualize it.

  • Modify its color and attributes.

  • Edit and refine detected lines as needed.

  • Classify manually detected lines as power lines

  • Adjust detection parameters via the Settings menu to better match your dataset.

To refine power line detection, the following parameters can be adjusted:

Detection Parameters

Min. segment length – Defines the minimum segment length that will be detected.
Max. segment length – Defines the maximum segment length allowed for detection.
Max. Z distance – Controls the maximum allowable vertical deviation between detected segments.
Max. XY distance – Limits the horizontal distance considered for pole detection.
Search radius – Determines the area in which the algorithm searches for other power lines.
Min. distance between lines – Prevents detecting excessive lines within a small area.

Classify Parameters

Class – Defines the classification category for detected power lines or poles (e.g., Bridge Deck, Conductor Phase, Poles).
Radius – Sets the classification influence area, determining the tolerance around detected objects.

Distance by Ground

Min. distance – Sets the minimum clearance distance between power lines and the ground.
Step – Defines the distance interval at which clearance measurements are taken.
Ground classes – Specifies which ground class (e.g., Class 2 - Ground) will be used as the reference for clearance calculation.
