Profiles
Menu: Analyze / Profiles
The Profiles tool generates longitudinal profile views along an alignment or between two selected points. The profile section is displayed in a secondary window, where points can be:
✔ Picked for virtual surveying
✔ Classified
✔ Deleted
This tool functions similarly to the Sections tool but does not require a width parameter since it focuses on a single linear profile cut rather than a cross-section.
1. Profile Creation Methods
By Alignment
Uses an existing linear alignment from the database to define the profile path.
Available alignments are listed in a drop-down menu.
New alignments can be added using:
Pick Points Tool
Alignment Tool
By Points
Creates a profile between two picked points in the point cloud.
These points define the profile’s limits along a straight line.
2. Viewing and Navigating Profiles
Show
Opens the secondary view, displaying the profile cut.
The bounding box of the profile is visible in the main window.
The profile follows the specified thickness and height along the selected path.
Right / Left
Moves the secondary profile view to the right or left of the profile path.
The step size is controlled by the Offset parameter.
3. Profile Customization Options
Thickness & Height – Define the profile section’s bounding box dimensions.
Offset – Sets the distance between profiles, determining the spacing for parallel profile views.
