Picking Points and Lines

Menu: Survey / Pick Points/Lines

The Pick Points & Lines tool allows users to select points directly from the point cloud and store them in the database with PCode, attributes, and line numbers, simulating a traditional field surveying instrument.

This function is similar to "View Points", but with three key differences:
✔ Live Data Capture – Points are added to the table as they are picked.
✔ Custom PCode & Line Number Sequences – Users can set predefined PCode lists that update automatically.
✔ Temporary Data Display – Only newly picked points appear in the table until saved.

1. Picking Points & Managing Attributes

✔ Click on a point in the point cloud to add it to the table.
✔ Set PCode and Line Number for each point in the right panel.
✔ Create & Load PCode Lists – Define sequences of PCodes for automatic updates after each point pick.
✔ Save Points – Press Save to store picked points in the Vision database.

💡 Picked points will remain in the table and on-screen until saved.

2. Modifying Picked Points

✔ Right-click on a point for additional options:

• Modify PCode or Line Number.

• Reposition a point using "Pick XYZ coordinate".

• Delete or adjust multiple points at once.

✔ Selecting Multiple Points

• Click a point (it turns yellow when selected).

• Hold Shift and click another point to select a range.

✔ Search for Points

• Use the search bar to find specific points in the table.

• Press Enter to cycle through multiple matches.

3. Saving & Exporting Data

✔ Save to Database – Stores points permanently in the Vision database.
✔ Export Formats:

• CSV – For spreadsheets & GIS applications.

• DXF – For CAD modeling & engineering workflows.

• LandXML – For civil engineering & infrastructure planning.

✔ Creating Alignments from Picked Points

• Click "Create Alignment" to generate an alignment from a polyline.

• Assign a line number to the alignment.

• Access the alignment in:

  • Menu: Survey / Alignment

  • Civil Module / Alignment Section

4. Customizing the Display of Picked Points

✔ Modify point label size on-screen:

• Go to Menu: Settings / View / Point Labels.

• Adjust text size for better visibility.

💡 By default, only newly picked points are displayed unless they belong to a selected point group.
