Menu: Survey / Vision Database

The Vision Database is an essential component in VisionLidar that allows users to store and manage vectorized survey data such as picked points, polylines, alignments, and extracted elements. Before performing any virtual surveying, the project must be linked to a Vision database.

1. Connecting a Project to a Vision Database

✔ A Vision database must be created or selected before picking points.
✔ The default database is created in the same directory as the project.
✔ Users can change the database location before creation.

To create a new database:
1️⃣ Click on Create to generate a new Vision database.
2️⃣ Choose the storage location.
3️⃣ Click OK to finalize the setup.

💡 Tip: If working on multiple projects, organize databases in separate directories for easier management.

2. Managing Vision Database Configurations

By default, VisionLidar installs the "Vision+" configuration, which provides basic database settings.

VisionPlus Tools – Allows users to customize database settings.
Detach & Switch Databases – If a different Vision database is required:

  • First Detach the current database.

  • Then select or create a new Vision database.

💡 Tip: Use VisionPlus configurations to expand surveying functionalities within the database.

3. Why Use a Vision Database?

Centralized Data Storage – Keeps all picked points, alignments, and extracted elements organized.
Multiple Project Support – Allows switching between databases without affecting the project structure.
Customizable Configurations – VisionPlus expands the database with additional settings and features.
