Creating an Alignment with Automatic Aetection Tools

Creating an Alignment with Automatic Aetection Tools

Menu: Survey / Alignments

VisionLidar offers automatic detection tools to extract linear elements from the point cloud and convert them into alignments. This method is ideal for road markings, curbs, railway tracks, and building edges, allowing for rapid and precise alignment creation.

1. Using Automatic Detection Tools

✔ Open one of the detection tools, such as:

✔ Run the detection algorithm to extract linear elements from the point cloud.
✔ The software will generate vectorized lines based on the detected features.

💡 Best for quickly extracting paths from roads, infrastructure, and structures.

2. Converting Detected Lines into Alignments

✔ Once lines are extracted, click on "Create Chains".
✔ This will open the "Enter Points/Chains" window.
✔ Follow the same procedure as in "Creating an Alignment by Picking Points":

  • Assign a name to the alignment.

  • Save the extracted line as an alignment.
✔ The newly created alignment is now available in the VisionLidar database.

3. Using the Alignment in Other Modules

Once created, the alignment can be used in:
Sections & Profiles – Generate cross-sections along roads or structures.
Corridor Modeling – Design roadways and infrastructure corridors.
Camera Paths – Define movement paths for visual simulations.
Road Marking Analysis – Evaluate and maintain road networks.

4. Key Benefits of Automatic Alignment Detection

Faster Processing – Automatically extract linear features without manual picking.
High Accuracy – Uses automatic detection algorithms for precise path generation.
Ideal for Roads & Railways – Perfect for transportation and infrastructure projects.
Seamless Integration – Works with other surveying, BIM, and GIS workflows.
