Creating an Alignment Using Existing Chains

Creating an Alignment Using Existing Chains

Menu: Survey / Alignments

1. Accessing Existing Chains

✔ Open Survey / Show Points/Lines.
✔ The window will display all existing chains in the database.
✔ Select the desired chain that will be converted into an alignment.

💡 This method works similarly to Creating an Alignment by Picking Points, but it directly uses pre-existing chains instead of manually selecting points.

2. Saving Chains as Alignments

✔ Click "Create Alignment".
✔ The "Saving Chains as Alignments" window will open, listing all available chains.
✔ Rename the alignment if needed by clicking on the "Align, Name" field.
✔ Click Save to confirm the alignment creation.

💡 Multiple chains can be processed one after another, allowing for fast batch alignment creation.

3. Using the Created Alignments

Once saved, the alignment can be used in:
Sections & Profiles – Generate cross-sections along roads or infrastructure.
Road Modeling – Use alignments for corridor design.
Camera Paths – Define navigation paths in 3D models.
GIS & CAD Export – Convert alignments into DXF, LandXML, or GIS formats.

4. Key Benefits of Using Existing Chains for Alignments

Saves Time – Eliminates the need for manual point selection.
Batch Processing – Easily create multiple alignments from stored chains.
Integrated Workflow – Works seamlessly with surveying, GIS, and CAD tools.
Accurate & Consistent – Uses pre-validated chains for precise alignment creation.
