Tetrahedrons tab

Menu: Civil / Start / Surfaces / Tetrahedrons

The Tetrahedrons Tab in VisionLidar’s Civil Module provides tools for managing, filtering, and analyzing the tetrahedrons that form the solid model of a surface. While similar to the Triangles Tab, this interface includes additional volume calculation capabilities and displays the triangles forming each tetrahedron for reference.

1. Understanding the Tetrahedrons Tab

Manages the Tetrahedrons that Form the Surface

  • Tetrahedrons are 3D volumetric elements composed of four triangular faces.

  • This tab allows filtering, erasing, redrawing, and analyzing tetrahedrons.

Differences from the Triangles Tab

  • Displays tetrahedrons instead of triangles, including their forming triangles.

  • Includes a volume calculation tool, which is not present in other tabs.

Primarily Used in the Solids Section

  • Tetrahedrons are usually managed in Menu: Civil / Solids.

  • However, if a solid is transferred to the surfaces, this tab remains available.

2. Best Practices for Tetrahedron Management

Use filters to display only relevant tetrahedrons before modifying or deleting them.
Hide coordinates when working with large datasets to improve visibility.
Perform volume calculations to analyze specific areas within the model.
Erase and redraw tetrahedrons to test different modeling techniques.
Delete unnecessary tetrahedrons to refine the 3D representation.
